Some of the mechanical air conditioning systems were replaced with roof mounted packaged units to suit the new internal layouts, but some the existing systems were assessed to be suitable for re-use and were retained to keep capital to a minimum. Acoustic attenuation was specified where necessary to reduce the overall noise levels of some of the mechanical equipment both internally and external to the hotel. Economy cycle operation, or ‘free cooling’, in conjunction with outside air monitoring was incorporated to reduce the overall running cost of the mechanical systems.
